Mini Development / Development
At Writhlington we are pleased to offer a development pathway for both boys and girls.
Our development sessions are aimed at children that are keen to play more than once a week and are interested in developing their tennis to the next level. Our coaching covers all aspects of the game and encourages players to play more and compete in county tournaments.
Mini Development – Orange/Green ball ages 9-12 Tuesday 4-6pm and Thursday 5-7pm
Development – Yellow ball groups ages 11-16 Wednesday 4:30-7pm
At this stage we recommend players speak to their coaches regarding which tournaments and competitions to enter. If you would like more information online please visit the LTA website;
Players can also progress further into our performance programme or Malcolm Eglin squad by invitation.
Children under the age of 11 must be accompanied to their sports lesson by their parent or guardian. Children attending lessons will not be released from our care in the absence of their parent or guardian; we would therefore strongly advise that you remain on site incase of any emergency so we can contact you quickly and that you arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the end of your child’s lesson.
Maclolm Eglin Community Performance Programme
The Malcolm Eglin Trust is a charitable trust that offers financial support to young talented tennis players, aged 9 to 14 years. Based in London the trust has connections within Bath & North East Somerset, the Norton Radstock area has been identified by the trust as an area where assistance can be given to young people in a sport that historically relies heavily on financial support from families.
A set of long term and short term goals are written for each child with our Head Coach– Tom Entwistle – so that improvements can be monitored and targets achieved. A mini or junior must be on our coaching programme to be eligible to join this squad.
A challenging and varied weekly programme is implemented which includes individual lessons, a buddy hit, groups, a fitness session and match-play. Holiday camps, parent meetings, clothing, re-strings, tournament advice, and an annual tour is including depending on the package.
