Suitable for people with little or no experience. These sessions will introduce novice climbers to the skill of belaying. These 2 week courses will give climbers the required skills to safely belay a partner. Climbers will become registered on completion of the course which will allow them to attend unsupervised climbing sessions during open sessions. Climbers are trained in pairs so please bring a guest to the session. This course is available FREE of charge for Inclusive members and their guest.

Lead Climbing Courses

Please note that the following lead climbing courses are only suitable for experienced top rope climbers who can confidently climb in the 5th grade.

Beginner Lead Climbing Course

Run over 3 consecutive weeks, this course is suitable for experienced top rope climbers who are interested in learning how to lead climb safely. The course covers a recap on some climbing basics including knots, ropes and equipment as well as risk awareness, clipping techniques, lead belaying and holding falls.

  • Cost: £50

Refresher Course

This one week course is suitable for those with lead climbing experience who need to brush up on their skills or for experienced lead climbers not used to lead climbing on lower walls (the lower the wall the higher the risk). The course covers clipping and dynamic belaying and will demonstrate the specific risks of lead climbing on lower walls.

  • Cost: £15

  • Climbers should avoid wearing clothing with any protruding embellishments including toggles, zips, hoods, buttons, badges and belts
  • Long hair should be tied back with a plain band.
  • Clothing should cover elbows and knees
  • Clean training or climbing shoes
  • All jewellery (including wedding rings) must be removed. Stud earrings can be covered with a plaster if they can’t be taken out)
