Class Non Attendance

Class non attendance has become a real frustration for many of our members who are desperate to attend classes which are often fully booked a week in advance but not fully attended on the day!  In January alone we had over 800 unattended booked spaces.
 
We have been trying to educate all members to be courteous in cancelling their booking(s) if they’re unable to attend as this will allow other members to book however this doesn’t appear to be working.
 
As a result and somewhat reluctantly we will be introducing the following sanctions for anyone who books and then fails to attend. The following will be effective from Monday 5th March.
 
1). Online accounts will be deactivated for members who fail to attend or register for a booked class. 
2). Access to other facilities and activities including our fitness suites will also be suspended. 
3). A 50p charge will need to be paid at reception prior to the reactivation of a members account. Please note that this charge reflects the cost of administration only (receptionist time and cost of transaction). It is important to note that this is not being implemented to make money but to try and encourage members to cancel if they’re unable to attend hence the nominal charge.
 
Please note that members will be logged as ‘failed to attend’ if they do not register their attendance either via our fast track kiosks or at reception. This also applies to our virtual classes. Members will be unable to collect tickets from the fast track kiosk if the class has already started. In this instance members will need to collect tickets from reception up to 5 minutes after the start time (please note that Writhlington reception is not staffed between the hours of 6 – 8.30am on Tuesday and Thusrday and 6am – 7amon MondayWednesday and Friday). Members will not be permitted to attend a class if they are more than 5 minutes late and as such will be logged as failed to attend. It is important that members understand that it is both unsafe and disruptive if we allow entry 5 minutes after the start of a class.
 
We would therefore encourage members to cancel any bookings they are unable to attend giving as much notice as possible as this will allow other members to book. Charges will not apply if places are cancelled prior to the start of the activity. Bookings made online can be cancelled online. Bookings can be cancelled by clicking on the ‘My Bookings’ button.
