The Association of Accounting Technicians qualification is designed for students who wish to progress in the accountancy profession.  Successful completion of Levels 2, 3 and 4 together with one year’s practical accountancy experience can lead to membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT) which is internationally recognised.  It also allows students to progress onto other professional accountancy courses such as ACCA or CIMA

AAT LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING (FOUNDATION)

This is the first stage of the AAT course, suitable for people starting on accountancy training for the first time.

Entry requirementsOpen entry.  Students will be required to register as student members of the AAT.

Assessment: There will be 4 computer based assessments and 1 computerised project.  Students will also have the chance to complete the Level 3 computer based project in spreadsheets.

What nextMost students go on to study AAT level 3 Diploma in Accounting (Intermediate).

AAT LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING (INTERMEDIATE)

This is the second stage of the AAT course, suitable for those who have completed the AAT Level 2 Certificate (Foundation) or already have some accountancy experience or training.

Entry requirements: AAT Level 2 or comparable qualifications, experience or knowledge.

Assessment: There will be 5 computer based assessments and 1 project.  Students will also be able to complete the computer based project in spreadsheets if not already achieved.

What next? Most students go on to study AAT level 4 Diploma in Accounting (Technician)

AAT LEVEL 4 DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING (TECHNICIAN)

This is the final stage of the AAT course, suitable for those who have completed the AAT Level 3 Diploma(Intermediate).

Entry requirements: AAT Level 3 Diploma (Intermediate).

Assessment: There will be 5 computer based assessments and 1 computerised project.

What next? Once completed and with relevant industry experience can gain MAAT status. Also students can progress on to professional accountancy qualifications.

 AAT AWARD IN COMPUTERISED ACCOUNTING

 This is a new qualification that consists of just one unit.  You will learn to be confident in using a computerised accounting system to enter accounting transactions, perform a reconciliation, correct errors and produce a range of reports.  There are no entry requirements for this course and it will involve one computer based assessment

 AAT CERTIFICATE IN BOOKKEEPING

This is a new qualification that includes the two bookkeeping units from the AAT Level 2 course. It is an excellent introduction to the subject.  There are no entry requirements for this course and it will involve two computer based assessments.
